1991-1996
Flynn expanded through acquisition, on the way to becoming one of the major roofing contractors in western Canada. In what would become a recurring theme, Flynn experienced subsequent organic growth as the company’s burgeoning wealth of resources and expertise were brought to bear.
1997
Flynn acquired the Peerless Group of Companies, with offices in Toronto, London and Hamilton, adding around 300 people. By this point it had become evident that Flynn was well on its way to realizing its vision of having a national footprint.
1999
Named one of “Canada’s Best Managed Companies” from over 20,000 nominations. We have won the award every year since then.
1998-2013
Through acquisition and organic growth, Flynn continued to expand across the country. By 2013, Flynn had established full-service offices in every major centre, virtually running out of areas to grow geographically in Canada.
2005
Flynn relocated its head office from Winnipeg to Toronto, and began developing centralized support functions. We now have formalized “shared services” departments (Accounting, HR, Marketing, etc.) operating out of Toronto.
2006
Responding to customers’ desire for a single-source total building envelope provider, Flynn made the strategic decision to add glazing to its growing list of capabilities. Flynn soon became the only national trade contractor with the expertise and resources to work on virtually every aspect of a building’s outer layer.
2013
In 2013, a strategic decision was made to expand into the United States. With many opportunities for growth, Flynn needed a home base in the US to support coordination and management of all US-related business activities. Since 2014, Flynn has added 10 offices in the United States through acquisition and organic growth opportunities.
2014
Flynn kickstarted its entry into the US market with the acquisitions of companies which offered both a cultural and strategic fit:
Sellers & Marquis/A2MG – Kansas City, MO
Traditional Roofing – Phoenix, AZ
2015-2017
Flynn broadened its US entry by welcoming four new companies into the fold:
Control Roofing – Baltimore, MD
Dalco Roofing Company – Minneapolis, MN
D&D Roofing – Denver, CO
BRI Commercial Roofing – Dallas-Fort Worth, TX
2018
Flynn expanded to the Pacific northwest, welcoming Cobra Building Envelope Contractors into the Flynn Family. This addition gave Flynn a true coast-to-coast presence in both the United States and Canada.
2020
Flynn expanded even more in the Southwest, welcoming AARA Construction Inc. and Noorda BEC Inc. into the Flynn Family.
