Flynn

Flynn’s strong culture focuses the energies of employees on doing the right thing, for the benefit of the company, its customers, and themselves. The result has been 40 years of success, and the next 40 looking even brighter.

The Flynn Way

“The Flynn Way” is the way we do things at Flynn. It is not any one single thing, but rather a collection of behaviours and actions that are influenced by our collective values and beliefs. Values such as safety, honesty, integrity, and doing what we say are deeply ingrained in Flynn’s culture.

Our culture and values are how we earn the loyalty and trust of each other, and our customers. That is why Flynn believes strongly in promoting from within. It helps ensure that our next generation of Flynn leaders are properly immersed in “The Flynn Way”.

Our Company

Flynn was founded in 1978 in Winnipeg, Canada. In our early years, Flynn’s focus was on commercial roofing contracting. We established a reputation across Canada as a top-notch commercial roofing contractor.

As architectural products became increasingly complex over the years, we recognized that the best way to serve our clients was by providing them with products and services for the entire building envelope. We branched out to provide a range of architectural products and roofing services, including metal paneling, contract glazing and curtain wall.

Today, Flynn employs over 5000 people and serves a diverse portfolio of clients across North America, for the entire building envelope.

Flynn Group of Companies offices

a "Best Managed" Company

For 18 consecutive years, Flynn has been named one Canada’s Best-Managed Companies. We are extremely proud to be recognized year after year as a Platinum Member. The national award from Deloitte takes into account more than financial performance – it looks at the efforts of the entire organization.

What sets Flynn apart from other companies? As North America’s only national total building envelope contractor, we’ve diversified our product offering, and continue to make our people and our customers our overarching priorities. We’ve fostered a corporate culture that supports our vision and values, and creates an environment that unites all of us in one goal: to provide our clients with the best service possible.

Green Initiatives

We’re keenly aware that everything we do has an impact on the environment, and we’re always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint and promote sustainability.

Environment & Social Responsibility task force

In 2016, employees who participated in our Flynn University for the Next Generation workshop created an “Environment and Social Responsibility” task force. This team has already put in place idle-free zones, special parking spaces for employees who carpool or ride motorcycles, and electric car charging stations in our office parking lots. Our offices also have high-efficiency lighting and water systems.

The task force is now working on a company-wide waste audit, and a battery recycling campaign. A field recycling and reusing program has a case study analysis underway.

Green Buildings

Flynn is a founding member of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities, an initiative that aims to increase the awareness of the economic, social, and environmental benefits of green roof infrastructure across North America and rapidly advance the development of the market for green roof products and services.  Flynn staff has been early adopters of their training and accreditation for green roof professionals.

We have been members of and involved with the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC) for many years.

Community Involvement

Flynn commits to donating $100,000 annually to charities, causes, and organizations that directly support and give back to the communities across North America in which our people live, work and play.

One of the many ways we give back to our communities is through our Sports Sponsorship Program. We support grassroots athletic teams ensuring more people have access to sports and recreation and the personal development opportunities it brings. (Please note that at this time, only current employees are eligible to receive Sports Sponsorships for their children’s teams, or teams they volunteer with or coach.)
