Grow with Flynn

At Flynn, it’s not just a job; it’s a career.

With many opportunities across North America, it’s possible to achieve your career goals with Flynn. The testimonials below are typical of the experience of many Flynn employees.

I was hired as a labourer in the decking department in Vancouver. I soon progressed to Metals Foreman working with decking, architectural sheet metal, and cladding. I became a Roofing Superintendent in 2011. In 2016, I moved my family to Flynn’s Regina office to take the position of Roofing Manager, and now I'm VP of our OPEX team. It doesn’t matter where you begin with Flynn, this is the same opportunity for each person that comes through our doors. From the field to the office, Flynn invests in its employees and provides opportunities to grow. Blaine Braun
VP OPEX
I started roofing in 2010 as a general labourer; the guy who cleans up the debris of the roof. As the years went on I started to assert myself, as I wanted to learn and move ahead. I soon became Lead Hand. I was selected to be a Frontline Coach through a Flynn University program. That experience opened up my eyes and mind. Through hard work and positive energy you can succeed in Flynn. I was then approached with an opportunity to become a Health and Safety Specialist, and then Superintendent. Mauro Videla
Senior Superintendent
I started at Flynn 2006 as a sheet metal foreman at the Toronto branch. In 2008, I was promoted to roofing superintendent, and worked in both the Toronto and Vancouver branches. In 2015 I was promoted to Roofing Manager in Calgary. The experience working for Flynn has been absolutely great. It offers those who are willing to challenge themselves the opportunity to advance within the company and be recognized. It’s a large company that has maintained the close-knit family values and feel. Joe da Costa
Roofing Operations Manager
Flynn Calgary
As a journeyman glazier by trade, I was a foreman for Bahrys Glass in Calgary when Flynn acquired the company in 2008. I continued as Glazing Foreman on two projects for Flynn until 2009, when I became Construction Manager for the Edmonton Glazing Division. In 2011 I was offered the position of Branch Manager in Moncton, and relocated to New Brunswick (I was born in Bathurst NB, so I was moving home). In 2015 I was offered my the position of Atlantic Regional Manager, and relocated to Halifax. I'm now VP of the Atlantic Region. Eric Veniot

FUFC Flynn University for Frontline Coaches (FUFC) is a two-day training session for members of our roofing crews who want to coach rookie roofers on their crews. The program is supported by a coaching app, developed in-house, that connects rookies to their coach, and provides opportunities for questions and feedback. FUSE Flynn University for Service Excellence (FUSE) is a one-day program that provides our repair & maintenance teams with the tools to: be professional, communicate well, show pride, find solutions, and connect with the customer. FUSE visits all Flynn branches across North America. FUFL Flynn University for Frontline Leaders (FUFL) is a two-day leadership program designed specifically for the leaders (and future leaders) of our field operations: foremen, superintendents, and select field personnel. Topics covered include leadership, communication, team building, problem solving, coaching, and customer service.

COACHING

At Flynn, our preference has always been to promote from within. As our skilled people move up, we will need to grow new talent to replace them. This means that the development of our rookies is critical to our future. The Coaching Program gives our rookies a coach who will share their experience, and help them through their first months in the field. While the program was initially for Roofing Production and is now being gradually rolled out to our other scopes. This coaching experience will help our rookies get up to speed in their new position.

All Flynn coaches attended Flynn University for Frontline Coaches (FUFC), which covers topics that will provide our coaches with the tools they need to better help their rookies. Our coaches volunteered for this program so that they could show a new generation how rewarding a career in the trades can be, while building their own legacy at Flynn.
