The 42,000 m2 Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL) is designed to be the library of the future. The facility is a unique combination of a traditional library with a historical archive, art gallery, special collections and publishing facilities. This convergence of media is intended to better serve the information and learning needs of the students, researchers and community at large.
The TFDL project was awarded to Flynn as a complete envelope package based upon 70% drawings. The team at Flynn assisted with the final detailing and design. The glazing group assisted with the special building requirement of elevated relative humidity required for artifact storage, this involved coordination with both the architect and the mechanical engineer. Flynn’s pre-construction team also worked with the architect to achieve the “Random book pattern” in the curtain wall but still keeping the design intent and also within the budget.
